"Perceptions - opinions - facts - exploring what is real"

The journey of exploration into our creativity explored the possibility of seeing a way creation works which answered the question “Is there a way to view Creation that no matter what a person believes they can have some type of experience of that belief such that they can point to that experience as the proof of what they believe is true.” This exploration included looking at a corollary which asked “Was there a way to view creation that would support such personal and subjective experiences as true. In looking at all the information which came to my attention and the experience in working with individuals, the answer to this question is that we are creators. We create both our experiences and the reality of those experience and Creation is magical enough to mold itself to give us those experiences. We do so by what we think and believe.

0:59 How does what we think and believe affect what we experience

So the obvious question is then how does what we think and believe affect what we experience.

To say we create our reality and the experiences of that reality by what we think and believe is correct. But to think simply by changing a few beliefs will get us what we want is far, far removed from the truth of the matter. The reason for this is the nature of our thinking, the nature of beliefs, what it means to believe something, the relationship of our thinking with our awareness and how consciousness seems to work. The discussion starts in understanding the relationship between perceptions, opinions and facts.

1:40 Our awareness and its perceptions

The bottom line is that our awareness allows us to focus our consciousness. What we call and perceive mind to be can be seen as our awareness moving into consciousness and consciousness moving into the realm of thinking, reasoning, remembering, contemplation, attachment, judgments, desire and the duality of “this” versus “that”. In essence mind is a property of consciousness. From the creativity perspective, mind is like an iceberg. There is a portion above the surface, the conscious mind, and a portion below the surface, the unconscious mind. If you wish, one can view the conscious mind as the human mind and that which is tied to the information related to the current incarnation in the human body. For the aspect of the unconscious mind that seems to be tied to one’s current incarnation we can call the subconscious mind. That is it lies in the unconscious mind but just below the conscious mind. As such it contains information much more easily retrievable to the conscious mind than the deeper aspects of the unconscious mind. In essence it would contain as part of the unconscious necessary for the current incarnation. So when we talk about creating our reality and the experiences of that reality we are taking about what is going on relative to thinking, reasoning, remembering, contemplation, attachment, judgments, desire and the duality of “this” versus “that” for both the conscious and unconscious mind and the role our body plays in all of this. So it is quite involved and well beyond simply changing how we think about something and changing a few beliefs although in some cases changing the correct belief may all be that is required..

3:22 Perceptions, opinions and facts

Relative to our creativity and our creative power and creative ability the process really start with the nature of our perceptions. We have a perception or an observation about something or an experience. We then, almost instantaneously, make an interpretation of, or about, the perception we have. In essence we form an opinion, a view or way of thinking about the perception. If the cause of the perception is seemingly repeatable, or our interpretation is based on other information we have available to us, that opinion or view becomes a belief. If this belief, in our opinion, is verified in some way, we turn it into a fact. Eventually what we believe that are facts and other beliefs that we hold are the basis on which we begin to base decisions and choices in our life. What needs to be noted here and is important is that our interpretation of our perceptions do involve assumptions but they are accurate and correct for us for it is our experience. In any case our mind goes to great lengths to make sense out of what we experienced or to understand what we experienced that it seeks to make connection between what we experience and why we experience what we do. For example, we feel a hunger pain, the pain persists till we make the connection of the hunger and pain until we eat food.

4:46 Our incredibly unique subjective perception

The journey of exploration into our creativity clearly revealed that we each have an incredibly unique perception of Creations. No one has our pain. Nobody has our suffering. No one has our joy. As a result of our unique perspective any observation we make is subjective. No one has viewed or experience Creation as we have or do. Each of our perceptions being subjective means no one can prove or disprove what we are seeing and experiencing. Our perception and our observations are our perceptions and our observations. This is true for all of us and for each and every one of us for each and every experience we have. The issue we face is that we interpret any experience we have based on our previous experiences and the beliefs we hold and how we think about what is experienced and perceived.

5:38 External experience

Now two things result from this. The first thing is external to us. We have an experience of the external world. As said to above, we form an opinion or an interpretation of the experience we have based on our experiences and what we think and believe. We end up thinking the world works based on our interpretation of the experience we had and the way we observed it. Although our perceptions cannot be disputed our interpretation may not be correct.

If we can reproduce our experience and make the same observation we make it a belief. Since it is now a belief to us we believe it as true and correct. Since we believe it as true and correct we eventually we make it a fact. We then can say “I know this is the way the world works because I have observed it and experienced it repeatedly - it is a fact”. But there is a step which occurs that we often miss. We have an observation and then make an interpretation about what we have observed. We never question our interpretation about what we observed for we usually do not realize we are making it. Our mind goes to great lengths to make sense out of what we experienced or to understand what we experienced. So we take our perceptions, form an opinion about them, turn that opinion into a belief especially if we have a good story as to why we think we are correct, we then claim that belief is a fact when it is really just an opinion and always was an opinion. Yet we believe it and make it a belief if not claim it as a fact. We rarely question what we are seeing and the interpretation make about it. What is important here to understand we turn our perceptions into opinions and then to belief and fact. We just need to be aware, we many need to revisit our beliefs and our opinions.

7:29 Internal experiences

But along with this external process of having an experience and mind forming an opinion about that experience there is an internal experience. Every experience we have is accompanied by flow of energy. Without the energy nothing happens. The flow of energy which accompanies any perception will be experienced as a feeling. The feeling may be very subtle but it nevertheless exists. Along with any thought is a feeling. A feeling exists with any thought for all is energy and thoughts are energy. But here we are talking about the experience and the energy giving rise to the experience. Most are unaware of this feeling for it is not where mind normally focused its attention. It is looking outward at the experience not inward to what we are feeling. Here we wish to bring our attention to the existence of this feeling. Once mind forms it opinion of what it experience mind infrequently pays attention to the next or future experiences to see if the experience is actually the same. Mind simply runs with what it believes.

8:31 Seeking agreement

This opens the door to another problem we all face. Whether we are aware of it or not we begin to look to others to see if they agree with our perceptions or we seek to get a better understanding of our perception and its interpretation base on another’s perception. We look to common or similar experiences others have had to compare our interpretation with their perception. What occurs is we are assuming if we both have a similar experience we are perceiving the same thing. If their interpretation is similar to ours we believe our interpretation is correct. Or if their interpretation appears to be somehow better or more effective or more encompassing than ours we can adopt their interpretation . Also it is only their opinion as true but we make their opinion our belief. This occurs more than most realize. Much of our lives is run on other people’s opinion or their beliefs. As long as what they believe is effective in our life we never question the basis of their interpretation. Often they are just passing on the belief of others that they adopted by them and pass them on to us

9:36 Common experiences

Now what is interesting is there are facts in the world. That is, there are phenomenon and experiences that are common to whom ever experiences the phenomenon or experience which all can agree upon. But the interpretation one gives the phenomenon may not be correct or something on which all can agree. For example, gravity works the same everywhere and does not matter as to the location or what the individual believes. An object will fall or be pulled to the center of mass of the two objects. An apple falls to the ground and we can all agree on that. But I can say the earth falls to the apple but most would not agree with or believe that interpretation yet it is true. Similar does the sun rise and set. It appears and can be observed by all. But the interpretation of what happens may be different. The sun rising and setting is untrue. Rather the earth rotates We can say the explanation of the apple falling and the sun rising and setting is just an opinion and not necessarily correct based on the physics of the situation.

What needs to be understood here are two things One is where our mind takes any perception and its interpretation made by us or anyone it is only an opinion based on the beliefs and experiences of the observer and may not be true. But when mind accepts the observation and turns it into a belief that mind holds it becomes embedded within one’s being and then become one of the collection of beliefs that determine both our actions and future beliefs. Mind will draw logical conclusion based on the belief regardless of whether it is correct or not. Even when there is evidence to suggest the belief is wrong mind will continue to base decisions on that belief until it is removed or changed. Unfortunately sometimes the erroneous beliefs get embedded in a habit of the body that continue even when mind knows it may not be served by the habit the erroneous belief created. The question is what beliefs serve us, How do we know what we believe and are they facts, or opinions or perspective of another - what can be flushed out as necessary or what does not serve

The second thing is everything crated by a human started as a unique subjective perception in the mind of a single individual. Another, for whatever reason, borrowed or adopted the interpretation by that single individual and ran with it. The implications of this are quite profound. The question is what serves you and your unique unfoldment and are you willing to let go of what does not serve you and your uniqueness.
